Knee pain is a common complaint that may affect people of all ages. It can be caused by and injury or ruptured ligament or damaged cartilage. It may be a result of other medical conditions such as arthritis or osteoarthritis.

Common causes of Knee Pain:

Injury:

Injury can be the main cause of knee pain. It can affect the ligament, tendons or even cartilage which may result in mild to severe knee pain.

Old age:

The most common cause of knee pain is usually old age which is the major cause of so many health problems.

Misuse or wrong posture:

Sitting or standing in a wrong unnatural way or posture for a very long time can also cause the knee pain which may get chronic with the passage of time.

Long term medications:

Long term use of some medicines can also cause the knee pain.

Symptoms of knee pain

Depending on the cause of knee pain, its severity and location may vary. Its signs and symptoms may include the following:

  • Local stiffness and swelling
  • Redness of knee
  • Sensitive to touch
  • Painful joint movements
